Warnings and important information about essential oils
For legal reasons, in the EU it is mandatory for manufacturers of essential oils, classified as cosmetics, to mark their labels with the symbol Xn (Xi). This symbol indicates a possible health risk, but does not affect the quality of the oil. It is emphasized that the concentrated (undiluted) use of essential oils can be harmful to health. Essential oils are concentrated extracts from natural plant materials, which can cause side effects if used improperly or in excessive doses.
For this reason, we ask you to consider the following warnings for the use of essential oils:
-
Do not ingest essential oils!
-
During pregnancy, essential oils should only be used under the supervision of a doctor, naturopath or aromatherapist!
-
In infants or children under 6 years old, essential oils should never be used without the direct instructions of a doctor, naturopath or aromatherapist!
-
People with epilepsy should only use certain specific essential oils and only under the direct instruction of a doctor!
-
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes!
-
Essential oils should not be applied to the skin undiluted, as they can cause skin irritation!
-
Essential oils should be stored out of the reach of children!
-
Some essential oils (e.g. peppermint) can damage surfaces and furniture if used undiluted. If this happens, immediately remove the drops and use a glass container!
-
It is recommended to perform an allergy test before using essential oils: leave 2 drops of essential oil on the inside of the elbow for about 2-3 hours.
-
After applying some essential oils (e.g. Citrus, Angelica, Lemon Verbena, Cumin, Fennel,) the skin should not be exposed to the sun or a sunlamp for at least 24 hours.
The use of essential oils does not replace a medical visit!
First aid:
-
EYES: If the oil comes into contact with your eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and consult a doctor in case of intense redness!
-
SKIN: To remove essential oils from the skin, you can use a cotton ball soaked in a fatty oil (almond oil, jojoba oil). You can also wash with soap and water. If the redness does not go away or inflammation occurs, you should consult a doctor!
-
INGESTION: In case of accidental ingestion, do not induce vomiting, but seek medical advice immediately and show the container or label of the essential oil in question!
